Tesoro Boys Water Polo took to the water and made great waves through another competitive season. With this, some of the most exciting games this fall at Tesoro High School didn’t happen in the gym or on the field, but rather in the water at the Titan pool.

Although it was a tough season for Tesoro, there were still many great moments to highlight.

The boys’ team was led by senior captains Arteen Hedayati, Anson Geis and Jason Park, all players who proved to have great seasons and contribute to much of Tesoro’s success this year.

Arteen Hedayati, who plays center and attacker, explained that the highlights of the season were “the memories [he] made through the tournaments, especially the last one at Sage Hill.”

The 2024 varsity team started the season with an impressive 14-6 win over Buena Park and also beat Schurr, who was undefeated in the Almont League. Unfortunately, the Titans ended up with an overall record of six wins and sixteen losses.

Despite the record, there were always large crowds on the pool deck to cheer on the Titans. Family, friends and students always saw lots of action each game, with each Tesoro match reaching double-digit goals.

Another successful aspect of the season was the dynamic goalie, Nico Assalian, who had some unbelievable saves throughout the season. Additionally, Assalian recently committed to play Division 1 Water Polo at the University of California, Irvine. Nico was thrilled, explaining how he is “very grateful for the opportunity and excited for the upcoming years.”

Undoubtedly, the future is optimistic for the Titan swimmers with many returning players contributing next year, continuing to work and improve during future seasons.
